About

Amy Annakin is a freelance stop-motion animator, puppet and prop maker based in Staffordshire, UK. Specialising in miniature fabrication, animation,  modelmaking  and storytelling through movement, Amy combines technical precision with creative flair to bring characters and worlds to life.

With a First-Class BA (Hons) in Animation from Staffordshire University, Amy has developed strong expertise in puppet fabrication, armature building, set dressing, and intricate costume and prop making. Her practical skills are backed by industry-recognised training, including the Aardman Academy’s Stop motion Professional,  Foundation Stop Motion course, advanced costume training with Amanda Thomas, and puppet making with Adeena Grubb — alongside mentorship from professionals in both animation and puppet-making.

Amy has worked on stop-motion projects, courses, and creative workshops across the UK — including in Manchester, Bristol, London, and Birmingham — contributing to student films, short productions, and animation events. She’s also participated in national festivals such as the BFI 66th London Film Festival and Manchester Animation Festival, while leading workshops for all ages and skill levels.

As a former intern at Animation Tool Kit, she supported fabrication and armature building for both in-house and client projects, while gaining hands-on experience in project management and production workflows.

Amy completed the Stop Motion Professional course at Aardman Academy in September–October 2025, mentored by Will Becher, director and animator at Aardman Animations. A graduate academy alumni she completed Stop Motion 2 at Aardman Academy in April 2026, mentored by Hannah Brooks and further advancing her skills in stop-motion animation. She is now open for work and actively seeking her next opportunity to contribute

Amy has also been accepted onto the Animation Trainee Finder programme with ScreenSkills for 2025–2027, specialising in developing skills as an Art Department Assistant and Assistant Animator in stop-motion animation.

​

Amy is now focused on growing her career in the stop-motion film industry, with a particular interest in stop-motion animation, puppet, prop & modelmaking. She thrives in both collaborative and solo environments, bringing enthusiasm, creativity, and a deep respect for the craft to every project.

​

Driven, detail-oriented, and always curious, Amy is committed to learning, pushing creative boundaries, and creating memorable work — one puppet at a time.
